One of our deck experts will come to your home for a free design consultation. During the consultation, we’ll discuss your needs, personal preferences, budget, and timing requirements. After that complementary meeting, we will provide you with a deck design and project quotation.
There are many factors that determine the cost of a deck. Depending on the material, size, and additional features, our decks generally range from $60/sqft and up.
Decks built using composite decking materials are considered “low-maintenance” decks as they require significantly less maintenance than wood decks.
Our customers generally prefer composite decking as it removes the need for regular staining or painting. Other reasons include no slivers (a better choice for children and bare feet), less slippery (especially when wet), and greater durability for a longer lasting, great looking deck. We have a wide selection of low-maintenance, composite decking materials to choose from, as well as, vinyl and hardwood materials available. We constantly source and test new composite materials and keep a list of the best materials available. For more on the composite decking products we work with, please click here.
The first company to introduce composite decking was Trex, in 1992. Since then, many more composite decking products have become available, in many colours and styles.
Most composite deck products will last longer than you will live in your home. While traditional wood decks have a lifespan of 8 to 15 years, composite decks generally last 25 to 30 years (or longer) as they are weather, insect, and rot resistant.
It depends on the product, but most composites are lighter than wood.
Hickory Dickory Decks provides a 2-year warranty on all workmanship in addition to the warranties most of our low maintenance decking manufacturers offer. In most cases 25 years. We also offer a complete satisfaction guarantee, which means that you don’t submit your final payment until you are completely satisfied.
For most projects, the deck design is included. However, we can also provide a paid design service for DIY deck builders.

Deck lighting is our most common add-on as it not only looks great at night, it also provides a great safety feature.
While every project is unique, an average deck can be built in approximately one – two weeks.
Most deck projects require a permit, and we always recommend to get a permit to avoid any future problems.
Most of our decks are built using premium kiln-dried pressure treated lumber for the substructure. Generally, 2′ x 8′ is used and is spaced 16″ apart. This is overbuilt according to the building code, but it will add years to the life of the deck. We add protection to the lumber substructure so that it will last just as long as the composite decking.
