1. Take pictures of your yard.
One standing at the back facing the house and another at the house facing the back of the yard, any other angles showing the entrance etc. are always helpful
2. Get tools
Required: paper to draw your house on and a measuring tape.
3. Take Measurements:
Start from the edge of the back of the house and extend your tape measure across the back, make sure to measure and label doors, windows and any anything else on your house of importance eg. 5’ from edge to window, window is 2’6’’, 2’ from window to door, door is 5’ wide, an additional 4’ to house edge and the height from the ground to the top of the door sill is 36’’ above grade.
4. Create a house drawing
Add these measurements onto your house drawing and send to your local builder along with your pictures.
5. Get inspired!
Check out Hickory Dickory Decks photo gallery for inspiration on what style of deck you like the look of.
6. View our Mega Pamphlet
Your local builder can email this to you, to view a variety of standard options that we offer.
7. Phone Consultation
Your local builder will then call you to discuss the details. They will go over what style of deck you’re looking for, materials, size, usage, budget, furniture, and then begin to design your project.
8. Receive a design and quote
Once the design and quotes are completed your local builder will share these documents with you, so that you are able to go through the contract together to understand exactly what has been quoted.
If you decide that Hickory Dickory Decks is the right company for your project we can accept a deposit and do online signatures to get you into the schedule.
As of right now most City Building Departments are still accepting online permit applications and our lumberyard is still open, so if you do decide to sign up during this time, we are able to get the paperwork started and materials ordered.
