Meet Our New Annapolis Valley Franchisee: Jon Trider

Published On: March 19th, 2025

The Annapolis Valley is a gem in Nova Scotia, known for its stunning landscapes, delicious apples, and world-class wines. And now, it’s also home to a brand-new Hickory Dickory Decks franchise, led by local entrepreneur Jon Trider.

Jon TriderYou could say business and renovations run in Trider’s veins. His late father was a pharmacist and owned a pharmacy in the Annapolis Valley. The family also owned a marble and granite countertop business. Trider spent summers working in the pharmacy during his youth, but it was in the countertop business that he really honed his eye for detail and business acumen. “Having almost a decade of experience being involved in high-end kitchen renovations, I understand what goes into making these large investments in our customer’s homes,” he says. “I view myself as a consultant who is here to help bring my client’s dreams to life.”

After earning a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Small Business & Entrepreneurship from Saint Mary’s University, Trider took the reins of the family countertop business before transitioning into the banking world. For over a decade, he worked as a small business banker, helping entrepreneurs bring their visions to life.

Now, he’s rolling up his sleeves and getting back to hands-on work with his own Hickory Dickory Decks franchise. “I was looking for a new career opportunity where I could be away from a desk and working with my hands,” he says. “Deck building has always been something I’ve enjoyed, and knowing the value that comes from being connected to a well-established and recognized brand, it was a perfect match.”

With his deep understanding of business operations, financial management, and home renovations, Trider is ready to help Annapolis Valley homeowners create beautiful outdoor spaces. “I’m excited to leverage my financial expertise and entrepreneurial spirit to build a strong, customer-focused business,” he shares.

And he’s not doing it alone. Being part of the Hickory Dickory Decks family means being surrounded by decades of knowledge and experience of other franchise owners. “Being able to draw on so many other franchisees with decades of experience is going to help me provide even better service and support to my customers,” he says.

At home, Trider has a strong support system in his wife of over 10 years, Diana, and their nine-year-old son, Max. When he’s not building dream decks, you’ll likely find him on the baseball field, coaching Max’s team.

From countertops to custom decks, Trider’s journey is all about craftsmanship, community, and creating beautiful spaces. And with Hickory Dickory Decks, he’s just getting started!
