Meet Our New Niagara Franchisee: Matt Nowosiadly
Just like any great deck starts with a strong foundation, Matt Nowosiadly has built his career from the ground up.
He first joined the Hickory Dickory Decks family in 2014, starting at The Deck Yard, where he learned the ins and outs of low-maintenance decking materials and how they were shipped and delivered. From there, he moved into a hands-on role as a posthole foreman. “I took care of deck teardowns, excavations, concrete footings, and helical pile installations.” In 2016, Nowosiadly took the next step in his journey, becoming a Carpenter Apprentice, where he learned the “Hickory Way” and got to build stunning decks alongside Head Carpenters.
By 2019, Nowosiadly had earned his Carpentry Apprenticeship Diploma from Mohawk College and achieved his Red Seal Qualification. A year later, he became a part-owner of Hickory Dickory Decks Ancaster/Binbrook and Grimsby/Welland and launched his own contracting business, Nowo Nails Contracting, specializing in interior work. Fast forward five years, and he’s now the proud owner of Hickory Dickory Decks Niagara. “From my years of involvement in the business, I have been able to learn all aspects of the Hickory Dickory Decks mission statement: quality, reliable workmanship, and happy customers.”
It’s hard to believe, but carpentry wasn’t Nowosiadly’s original plan. He started out studying Engineering at McMaster University but realized by his second year that it wasn’t the right fit. “I missed the aspect of working with my hands and being able to see at the end of the day what I accomplished.”
Now Nowosiadly gets to do what he loves every day – building beautiful decks and making customers happy. “Being able to produce an end product that not only I’m proud of, but customers are ecstatic about makes you feel good,” he says.
When he’s not building, Nowosiadly enjoys spending time outdoors – whether that’s hunting, fishing or travelling.
