Meet Our New Penticton, BC Franchisee: Lucas Collette

From getting his start in the Hickory Dickory Decks network to now running his own franchise in Penticton BC, Lucas Collette’s journey is a great example of what’s possible with experience, passion, and the right support system.

Coleltte first connected with Hickory Dickory Decks while working with the Kelowna team, where he got his first glimpse into the HDD network and what it takes to build decks the Hickory way. Today, he’s proud to own his own franchise location in Penticton, BC, a community he has called home for the past five years.

With over 10 years of experience in the construction industry, Collette has always enjoyed hands-on work. “Building and working with my hands has been a big part of my life for a long time,” he says.

His time with Hickory Dickory Decks Kelowna gave him valuable experience—not just in deck building, but in learning what it takes to deliver a great experience to homeowners from start to finish. 

Like many HDD franchisees, Collette was drawn to the opportunity to run his own business while having the support of a strong, established brand. Hickory Dickory Decks provides franchisees with training, systems, and ongoing support, making it possible to build a successful business without going it alone. “I liked the idea of being able to build something for myself without having to do it completely on my own,” he says.

Earlier this year, Collette attended his first Hickory Dickory Decks Kickoff Conference, where he connected with franchise owners from across the country. The experience reinforced what makes the HDD network unique: collaboration, shared knowledge, and a commitment to quality. “It’s nice being part of a group of deck builders who support each other, share knowledge, and all care about doing quality work for homeowners,” he says.

Collette also values the opportunity to work outdoors and create something meaningful for homeowners. For him, it’s not just about building decks—it’s about helping people enjoy their space. “It’s rewarding to help turn someone’s ideas into a finished deck they can use for years to come,” he says.

Outside of work, Collette enjoys everything the Okanagan lifestyle has to offer. “The area is beautiful, and there’s a strong sense of community here,” he says. Whether it’s spending time with his family and dogs, going for walks, fishing, or biking, Collette enjoys staying active and connected to the outdoors. He is also involved locally, teaching boxing at a nearby MMA gym.
