Meet Our New Langley, BC Franchisee: Liz Aragon

We’re excited to welcome Liz Aragon as the newest Hickory Dickory Decks franchisee serving Langley, BC!

Liz brings a unique blend of technical expertise and creative vision to her business. An engineer by trade, she has worked on a wide variety of projects around the world, most recently in design and manufacturing within the food machinery industry. Her background gives her a sharp eye for structure, precision and thoughtful design – essential qualities when designing custom decks. She also has a deep appreciation for how well-designed outdoor spaces can enhance everyday life. 

Liz is supported in her new deck business by her husband Alex. With a professional background in wealth management and banking, Alex also enjoys hands-on DIY projects – from building decks and pergolas to framing fireplaces – making them a strong team.

For Liz and Alex, Hickory Dickory Decks stood out as a trusted name in custom deck building across Canada with a proven track record, streamlined processes, and strong support systems. Having access to experienced deck builders and business owners was a major advantage – but what mattered most to Liz was the opportunity to help families enjoy their homes more. “If I’m already doing this for my own home and loving it, why not do it for others and do it well?,” she says.

The Aragons understood firsthand the challenges homeowners can face during outdoor renovation projects. “After experiencing a less-than-ideal backyard renovation ourselves – though we eventually loved the end result – the idea of improving that process for other families was deeply appealing,” says Aragon. 

Now, as the owner of Hickory Dickory Decks Langley, Liz is committed to delivering a smooth, enjoyable experience for every client looking for a new deck. “We’re genuinely excited about helping people love their outdoor spaces the way we love ours,” she says.

Their journey to becoming a Hickory Dickory Decks franchisee was also influenced by family. Alex’s brother and sister-in-law – who are franchise owners in Ontario – helped confirm their decision. “Their perspective confirmed what we were already feeling—that this was a company we could grow with, believe in, and be proud to represent, while making a real difference for homeowners,” says Aragon.

Liz’s passion goes far beyond construction. She’s focused on creating outdoor living spaces that truly enhance how people live. “Our own backyard has become the heart of our home. We often hear friends say ‘If I had this, I’d be out here all the time!’ and every time we hear that, we think – yes, this is exactly what we want to share,” she says.

Liz and Alex have lived in Langley for the past 25 years and are deeply connected to the community they now serve. “We started in what felt like a small town, and while the area continues to grow and evolve, it’s never lost its sense of community,” she shares. Being able to serve their community—neighbors, friends, and fellow families—is of utmost importance. 

“Langley is diverse, vibrant, and family-oriented—but still deeply relational. People know each other. Relationships matter. You feel welcomed and cared for. We believe people are meant to connect, and Langley has given us endless opportunities to do just that.” 

Life Outside of Deck Building

When they’re not designing and building decks, Liz and Alex stay active year-round. They enjoy road cycling, pickleball, and spending time with family, friends and their church community. 

Their backyard is often the center of it all—a perfect example of how a well-designed outdoor space can bring people together. “Most weekends revolve around time spent in our backyard with family and friends – our home is always full of people,” says Aragon.
